Scott's Buck Fever Breaks....

BEWARE:  THIS POSTING CONTAINS GRAPHIC MATERIAL THAT MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN.

Modern gun season started this past Saturday.  Scott took his first buck on his 3rd day of hunting.  This 6-point deer turned broadside at 133 yds, and he took him with his Ruger M77 Hawkeye 270 (these are the details that he told me that other hunters would want to know).   Modern gun season goes through December 19th.  With his 2010 hunting goal already accomplished (bagging his first buck), he has already stated that he is seeking a trophy big enough to mount.  I don't know why he wants to get one mounted...it is not going in my house...lol...but I still support him.  Get'em Scott!!!

Baby Shower Stuff

I made this cake for my sorority sister/friend's baby shower.  This was my first time making the baby converse shoes that I have been wanting to make for like forever.  I also made the diaper cake for her.  The baby shower turned out well.  Can't wait to see Baby Laylon when he arrives!

Wicked

Scott and I went to go see the musical Wicked last night.  We had planned to see it originally when we went to New York a year ago, but the show was sold out.  When it came to Little Rock, I just had to see it.  I love the story of The Wizard of Oz.  I watch it every holiday season (even though its not a holiday movie).  It was good to see the story from the Wicked Witch of the West's point of view.  It really makes me look at The Wizard of Oz in a whole new way.  Any who, the musical will be here until the 14th, so I highly recommend going to see it.  It's a Must See!!!!!!!!!

LET'S VOTE

Me with my "I Voted" sticker on

As many of you know, November 2nd is the big election day.  For the convenience of everyone, early voting is available.  Scott and I voted today after work, and we were in and out.  Took about 10 minutes.  I encourage everyone to go out and exercise their right to vote.  It's an easy process, and it's imperative to our future.  I know I must sound like a commercial, but I really want you all to go out and vote.  Hey, what could it hurt?

For those of you in the Little Rock area, you can go to this link and see where you can early vote.  And remmeber, Just Vote!!!!!!!!

All About Me.....

My cousin, Kasey,  started these things called a "meme" on her blog.  I had never heard of the term, so I looked it up.  A Meme is  postulated unit of cultural ideas, symbols or practices, which can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals or other imitable phenomena. Sounds neat huh?  Any who, I plan to put questions about me, so that everyone in blog land can get to know ME. Here are my first 5 questions:

1.What do you listen to in your car?

In the mornings on my way to work, I listen to the Rickey Smiley Morning Show.  The show is hilarious. Everyone on the show is so blunt, and they will laugh at anything. They have me in the car just laughing. In the afternoons on my way home, I listen to Michael Baisden's radio show. He presents all these different topics for people to call in and comment on. The topics range from politics, religion relationships, and money. The callers that come in come up with topics from prospectives that are funny and sometimes off the wall. All in all, I just love the debates that go on. I guess when I am just driving around running errands, I listen to whatever is on the radio.

2.What is your least favorite thing about Fall?

Well, Fall is my favorite season of them all, so this question is kind of hard for me. I guess what I don't like is when the weather isn't cold or isn't hot, so it seems like everyone is confused on what to wear. You may see a lady walking down the street in leather boots in 85 degree weather just looking HOT. Then you may see a lady in white sandals in 55 degree weather. I like it once fall weather is definitely in effect, and everyone are in clothes that go with the season and the temperatures outside.

3. Would you ever drive a minivan?

The only way I would drive a minivan is if I won it in a raffle, and I was driving it to the new owner after I sold it.....LOL. Seriously, I don't think that minivans exactly scream, "Christian!" I agree that they are gas efficient and can seat a lot of people. I just would rather drive a SUV even though the gas mileage isn't that good. I am not saying that I will never drive a minivan because I don't know what the future holds. I'll just say that I won't be test driving any minivans anytime soon.

4. Do you wish on shooting stars?

The times that I have actually seen shooting stars, I did because that is what people say you are suppose to do. It has been awhile since I have seen one, so no wishes have been made in quite some time.

5. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?

I loved the Smurfs.  Smurfette, Papa Smurf, Big Nose, Gargamel.....Man, I loved them all.  I use to imagine if I had pet Smurfs, and how they would be my friends....I know, I was a goof ball...LOL. Any who, I read where they are coming up with a Smurfs movie next summer. I am pretty sure that it will be nothing like the cartoon. Of course, I will have to check it out.

Ok, I hope my answers give you a better picture of who I am. Feel free to let me know how you would answer any of these. Or add this to your blog, so I can read your answers. Until next time.......

A Dirty 30 Hunting Birthday

Last Thursday (Sept 30th), Scott turned the Big 30.  He didn't request a big dirty 30 bash like most people want, he requested that "we" go hunting for his birthday.  Yes, "WE" went hunting.  Bow season started October 1st.  Scott and I woke up early Friday morning to head down to the deer woods.  And when I say early, I do mean early.  We left the house at 4:15 am.  Talk about tired.  Any who, my biggest fear about this whole hunting adventure was SNAKES.  I didn't want to see them, hear them, or step on them.  Luckily, I didn't see any snakes.  Thank Goodness!!!!!!  Once we got in the deer stand, I was all good.  All my worries were over.  We sat there for a few hours quiet as church mice.  I read a book and a half while we just sat there.  I must say that the deer woods are very peaceful.  Very relaxing!!!!  We took a little break and went four wheeler riding and laid some deer corn.  That was fun as I really like four wheeler riding. Scott also showed me his old church and the "pond" that he got baptised in.  You could say that I got the grand tour of Banks, AR.  We called it a day shortly after that and prepared for the next day's hunting adventure.

We woke up early once again to start the day.  We were in the woods at 6:20ish.  You know what that means.....IT WAS STILL DARK OUTSIDE.  Talk about scary.  Of course, we had flash lights, but you can't keep those on for too long because you scare away the deer. Any who, we got in the stand in the pitch back cold morning hours and sat there.  I saw the image of a deer with no horns better known as a doe, but it just passed on by.  We didn't get a deer, but I just know that Scott will be getting one real soon.  All in all, I had a good time.  More fun than I thought it would be.  So the question of the day, Would I go back hunting?  Most Definitely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scott is all ready

Yeah, I'm ready too

Me posing...he he he

Scott the Hunter...He's so cool!

Happy Birthday, Scott, and may you be blessed with many more!

I did this cake for another co-worker.  Her son is a basketball, soccer, football, and baseball player.  This cake is for a surprise sports themed party today.  The top and bottom tiers are chocolate with cookies n cream filling and the second tier is WASC cake with buttercream filling.  Thanks for looking!!!!!

Where Does He Get Those Wonderful Toys?

Scott got a crossbow last week, and of course he couldn't just let is sit around until bow season :).  He had to assemble it and sight it in, which means to get the red dot in his scope pointed at the same location as the flight path of the arrow.  After a few shots, he hit the vital organs of the deer on the target.  Here are a few pictures of Scott and his new toy.

BULLSEYE!!!!!

Game Night-Bowling

For Game Night this month, we all went bowling.  I started off a little rocky with the first game, and ended up in last place.  Then my good ol' hubby gave me some motivation and a few tips, and I was "ON" the next game.  I ended up being in first place on the girls team, and even beating Scott.  Shoot....I rolled 3 strikes!!!!!!  We had a good time as always!

Tan, Telischa, Brandi, Devae, and me

Here's my score(115).  Don't Hate....LOL!!!!!

mmmmmmmmm Yum!!!!!

Since I tried some new recipes last weekend, I decided to try a new recipe this weekend too.  I made chicken alfredo pizza, and it was delish.  The recipe is per the Neely's ( I just love them).  Any who, I added mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, and green onions to the recipe.  It turned out really good.  My number one judge (Scott) loved it too.  It was so filling.  One and a half slices, and you are full.

For dessert, I made the Neely's cookies-n-cream cake.  The picture I took of the cake I made came out blurry, so this is a picture of it from the foodnetwork website.  The cookies-n-cream filling was the best part.  I wanted to try making this filling for quite some time now, and I am glad I did.  I think that I will fill my chocolate cupcakes that I make in the future with this filling.  I think that will be a good little surprise for someone.  All in all, this cake was very tasty.

Magically Delicious.....

Every day after I get home from work, I watch Down Home with the Neely's on Food Network.  They have so many yummy looking recipes that I want to try.  Today, I decided to do just that.  I made 3 of the Neely's recipes, and they all turned out pretty good....just ask my hubby.  They were so good that he "Kissed the Cook."  He He He!

Any who, the menu consisted of shrimp cakes, red beans and rice, roasted broccoli and tomatoes, and cheese toast.  I will be adding all three of these recipes to my roster of things to cook in the future.  Here are some pictures of how the dishes look.  Bon Appetit!!!!!!

Shrimp Cakes

Red Beans and Rice

Roasted Broccoli and Tomatoes

I have always loved cooking.  I plan on trying some more new recipes because I just get tired of eating the same ol' same ol'.  The Neely's have inspired me to spice it up a bit in the kitchen.  I can't wait to try the next recipe.  Stay Tuned!

Girls Weekend!!!!!!!!!!!

My good friend, Candice, is getting married September 4th.  To celebrate this wonderful time in her life, we headed to Dallas for a girls weekend.  We all had a good time, and I even tried some yummy food at the restaurants we ate at.
Me and Candice at Razzoo's Cajun Cafe

My cousin, Kasey, wanted me to start taking pictures of the food I eat on my Tasty Travels, so here it is.  This is jumbo crab stuffed shrimp over rice with green beans and buttered toast.  Uh YUM!  I am a big crab stuffed shrimp lover, so I had to try them.  Way to go Razzoo's!

Ok, so we went to Pappadeaux's.  The first time I went, I was not impressed.  I think I just got the wrong thing.  This time, I was overjoyed with my selection.  This is the Blackened Catfish Opelousas.  It is blackened catfish wtih shrimp and crabmeat in a buttery sauce with dirty rice.  Uh, YUM!  I almost hurt myself on this one.  It was just so good.  I want to go back just to get some more of this dish.

I really had a good time this past weekend.  Sometimes, it is just good to get away and hang out with friends.

Happy Anniversary to Us!

Well, today is our 2nd wedding anniversary.  Time has really flown by.  It seems like we were just engaged.  Any who, it is just the best feeling in the world to know that I get to spend the rest of my life with the love of my life.  I truly believe that God made Scott just for me.  I mean, he supports, motivates, and inspires me, makes me laugh even when I don't want to, and he is just always there.  He is my best friend.  I just feel so blessed to have him as my husband.

I love you, Scott, and I am excited about spending the rest of my life with you.

Tasty Travels in Memphis 10

Scott and I went to Memphis to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary, which is Monday, August 2nd.  We went out to eat, shopped, and relaxed.  Here are some of the places that we went and some of the things that we did.

Our first stop was Joe's Crab Shack.  This place is one of our favorites, and a must whenever we go to Memphis.  I got a sampler platter that had jumbo crab stuffed shrimp, fried oysters, great balls of fire, fried snapper, and fried shrimp.  Scott got a sunset fire crab steampot that had snow and dungeness crab legs, andouille sausage, and boiled shrimp.  It was all so yummy.

Scott's all ready to dig in

Our next big highlight was when we went shopping.  I found the best deal.  I got 3 pairs of jeans for $12 bucks a piece.  I NEVER find deals like that on jeans at the Express.  Usually when they go on sale, they never have my size.  Talk about cheesin' from ear to ear.

Our next treat was our very first time visiting Cold Stone Creamery.  Uh, YUM!  I got the Coffee Lovers creation except I got the sweet cream ice cream instead of coffee ice cream, and Scott got the Founder's Favorite.  There was so much ice cream in the cups.  Man, it was more than I could eat.  Very delicious though.  I see why everyone raves about it.

The last time we went to Memphis, Scott's cousin put us on this wonderful restaurant.  The Half Shell is a seafood restaurant that is very, very yummy! We both had the New Orleans Pasta, and it was sooooo delish.

Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken is also a must when we go to Memphis.  Their chicken is just so good.  People were lining up before the place even opened just to get some.  And if you can't tell, the place isn't the biggest.  That didn't stop folks from crowding in to wait for a table.  Luckily, we were there early, so we got a table as soon as they opened.

We had a great time in Memphis on our Tasty Travels.  The weekend just went by so fast.  It was a good weekend to enjoy Memphis and be with my love, Scott.

Photo Shoot

Scott and I decided to get some pictures taken.  The last pictures that we had taken were our engagement pictures and wedding pictures.  We have both revamped ourselves since then.  My hair is now black, and Scott is sporting the bald look.  So, we called on a friend of a friend who does photography on the side.  Melissa did a great job.  Now, I can put our more up to date pictures all over the house.  Now, I have to find some really cute frames.  So, here are some of the pictures that we liked.  Check Us Out!
