Beauty Corner-Lipsticks

My new found obsession is makeup preferably lipsticks.  It all started with wanting to find a good nude lipstick to wear during the spring.  The newest trend are lipsticks that are the color of your natural lips but with a little gloss on top.  I have experimented with a few, and plan to try just a couple of more, but nude lips go with any outfit and is a great everyday color for your lips.
Next, I wanted a plum lipstick.  Not too plum, but enough color for you to tell that my lips were plum.  I like this color when I wear colors like grey, white, or black because it brings just a little color to the entire outfit.

Then of course, I had to find a cute pink color for the spring.  On days that I’m not feeling too upbeat, I can throw on some pink lipstick and perk up my look even if I’m not feeling the perkiest.

I see so many models and celebrities who wear all shades of lipsticks, and it makes me think, “Hey, I can do that too!”  I have built up a little collection, and I don’t always get the expensive lipstick either.  Drugstore brands like Revlon truly have good quality lipstick that moisturize your lips and stays on for a few hours.  The key thing to remember when shopping for lipsticks is to get shades that compliment your skin tone.  Just because Halle Berry wore it, doesn’t mean that you can.  You have to get what fits your skin tone and your look.  There are thousands of shades out there, so you just have to find with what works for you.  Have a little fun experimenting!  It’s what being a girl is all about.
Below are pictures of me on my lunch break at work just being silly in different shades of lipstick.

Sunday's Best plus Kendall in her night attire

I've been working with Kendall to put her hands on her hips.  She is just too cute or as we call her, "Hot Stuff"  lol

Kendall in her Dora nightgown and socks also in her bunny pjs.  She actually asked me to take her picture, which shocked me totally.  Her new thing now is taking the pictures versus me taking pictures of her.  My baby girl is so curious and independent that I see her being the photographer here real soon.

Dylan Baby Shower

My co-workers threw Dylan and I a baby shower.  It was really, really nice of them.  We had snacks all day and enjoyed some cake that afternoon.  Dylan got lots of cute gifts that he will really enjoy once he gets here.  I just really appreciate my team, and it's a real blessing to work with such supportive people.

Most Beautiful Person of the Year

I am really happy that Lupita Nyong’o received People Magazine's Most Beautiful Person of the year.  I just think she is truly beautiful inside and out.  Her skin is so smooth, and she is rocking that short haircut.  I think that we in society get so caught up in this bubble of what beauty is.  Beauty in my definition is confidence.  We are so quick to say that the woman that is lighter-skinned with long hair and a face full of make-up is beautiful.  Lupita breaks that mold, and I love that.  Beauty comes in all shades and doesn’t require a head full of hair.  It requires knowing who you are, not caring what others think, and confidence in who are.  These are all things that I plan to instill in my Kendall.  She is beautiful not because her daddy and I say so…..not because society says so…..but because SHE says so.
Congrats Lupita!!!!!!!!

Silly Faces-Tuesday....33 Weeks and counting!

Just me being silly on my lunch break.  I'm 33 weeks as of Tuesday.  I meant to take a belly picture, but the day got away from me.  I will coming up soon.

Kendall just came up to me and said, "Mommy, take my picture!"  I was shocked because it can be such a hassle just trying to get her to look at the camera at times.  Any who, I made sure to get a few silly pictures of Miss Kendall.

Happy Easter Day 2014!

Easter was absolutely wonderful.  Kendall loves wearing dresses and church shoes,so needless to say there was no struggle getting her into her Easter clothes.  She loved the flower barette in her hair.  When I finished combing her hair, she looked in the mirror, and said "I'm pretty!"  This girl will forever amaze me.  We all went to church, and Kendall is doing pretty good with her behavior during the sermon.  I mean, we can actually get the word.  After church, we came home and ate an Easter dinner that I cooked that consisted of chipotle baked pork chops, turnip/mustard greens, corn, candied yams, and hot water cornbread.  While we ate dinner, we watched the Disney movie Frozen.  Kendall loved her Easter basket.  It included 3 coloring books, bubbles, Easter M&Ms, silly straws, a stuffed animal, Minnie Mouse socks, and Dora socks.  Then, we all went outside and blew bubbles, which is one of Kendall favorite things to do.  Next, Kendall played on her swing, which is also on her list of favorites.  Mind you Kendall did all of this playing outside in her Easter dress lol.  I can say that I think Kendall truly enjoyed herself as well and Scott and I.

On another note, we made sure to teach Kendall about Easter being about Jesus and not the Easter bunny.  At this current time, she says that Easter is about Jesus and the Easter bunny.  Coming from a two-year old, we will take that.  Our family is so blessed by the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made for us.  Thank you Jesus for blessing us so!

Kendall playing a little Soccer

Scott, Kendall and I went out to Emoni and Amauri's soccer games yesterday. It was the first real warm day that you could sit outside in warmer tempertures.  In between games, Kendall played soccer with her cousins.  As you can see below, Kendall had a good time learning how to kick the ball around.  Emoni and Amauri had to work with her a bit at first, but she finally got the hang of it.  Miss Kendall had a great time being outside and playing soccer.

Beauty Corner

I have been having the biggest problem with getting dead skin off of my lips.  I think the more lipstick and lipgloss that you wear, the more peeling skin on your lips.  At least that's my experience.  I am a constant Carmex wearer, but I think I am finally to the point where I am ready to wean myself off of it.  I don't want to go with a chapstick, but something more oil based liked Carmex.  All of this lead me to the below lip scrub.  Previously, I would use a lip mask by Mary Kay.  That can get very expensive especially with the tube that the lip mask comes in seems to be like the size of an ant.  I read a couple of recipes and decided on this one below.  I already had all of the ingredients, so I tried it last night.  I used brown sugar rather than white sugar and olive oil in the place of the essential oil.  When I applied it, it looked like I had been eating greasy chicken wrapped in greasy bacon, but it was well worth it.  After I wiped it off, I used the coconut oil as a lip moisturizer.  My lips had no peeling skin on them, and they were so soft.  I will be doing this a couple of times a week.  If you have been having the same problem, definitely try this.  You will love it!!!!!!!!!

Homemade Lip Scrub
Ingredients:
Combine ingredients in small jar, stir until mixed. Apply a small amount to your finger, and gently rub into lips. Continue rubbing gently for 1 minute, then rinse with warm water.
Apply a layer of coconut oil or homemade lip balm to finish the job, and make your lips kissibly soft!
Store jar in refrigerator for up to a month, and use once per week for optimal results.
About the Ingredients:
Coconut Oil strengthens underlying tissue and removes excessive dead skin cells. It is an antibacterial, antiviral and anti-fungal, and contains antioxidants that help skin cell regeneration. It is also a beneficial moisturizer.
Organic Sugar Cane is abrasive enough to help remove dead skin cells and other impurities, which aids the coconut oil and honey to moisturize and renew the lips.
Honey is a wonderful skin moisturizer. It’s a natural antioxidant and can prevent skin from premature wrinkling caused from sun damage. It also has antimicrobial properties which promotes healing and prevents against infections.
Essential Oils have numerous and tremendous benefits for many different purposes. I chose to add 2 drops of peppermint essential oil and two drops of orange essential oil for a bright and fragrant lip scrub. Be sure to do research on safety and precautions before using essential oils.
