Teacher's Appreciation Week

This past week was Teacher Appreciation Week at Kendall's school.  To show our appreciation to Kendall's three teachers, Ms. Kathy, Ms. Whitney, and Ms. Toya, we got each teacher a daily gift during the whole week.  Of course, I got my ideas for the gifts from Pinterest.  Below is each gift.

Monday's gift:  Lemon and snickerdoodle cookies with a "Thanks for making me one smart Cookie" tag.  This was my first time making snickerdoodle cookies, and they turned out very moist and good.  I will post the recipe in a later post.

Tuesday's gift was a Mountain Dew soda and a Mounds candy bar with a tag that said, "Mounds of thanks for all you Dew."  You know it's amazing that I could only find Mounds candy bars at Target.  Almond Joys are everywhere!

This is a Bath Salt Sundae.  It includes Calgon bath salts with a shower puff.  The straw and tissue paper cherry on top are just decorations.  I got the containers from Sonic.  Glad they donated them to the cause for free.  I can't remember what the tag says, but it's a little poem saying how they can use this sundae to relax.

Thursdays gift is a bag of peppermints with a tag that says, "Everything you have done has "mint" a lot to me."

Fridays gift was an orange Fanta soda with a tag that says, " You are a "Fanta"stic teacher!"  The only place I could find these individual Fantas was at the Mexican restaurant down the street.

Happy Birthday Papa

My father-in-law turned the Big 60 this year.  For this special occasion, us kids and grandkids threw him a surprise birthday party.  We barbecued since that's a family favorite.  The food consisted of bbq chicken wings, boudain, smoke sausage, hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, roasted potatoes, corn on the cob, and punch.  For dessert, we had pecan pie bars, lemon cookies, chocolate salted caramel cupcakes, and chocolate cake.  The mantle was decorated with green and blue tissue paper pom poms and a birthday banner that I made with my trusty Cricut.  We had blue and green balloons decorating the floor.  Everything turned out well, and looked real festive.  We had good times and laughs.  We all are thankful for the 60 years that God has blessed Mr. Robert with.  As he likes to say, This is just his halfway mark....lol  Happy Birthday, Mr. Robert, and we wish you all the best in the next 60 years!

Photo Shoot

My mother-in-law's birthday was March 26th.  Her birthday gift from us was a photo book with all 3 of her granddaughter's pictures in it. Kendall wasn't the most cooperative at times, but we did our best (lol).  Check out Emoni, Amauri, and Kendall in some of the pictures that were in the photobook.  These girls are just too stinkin' cute!

Easter 2013

Today started out with lots of rain and thunderstorms.  That didn't stop us from going to church.  Kendall looked super cute (as usual ha!)   Her ensemble consisted of a multi-colored striped sleeveless dress with a flower accent, hot pink cardigan, white gladiator sandals, and a hot pink headband with a flower embellishment.  After church, I cooked chicken wings, greens, macaroni and cheese, candied yams, hot water cornbread, and chocolate salted caramel cupcakes.  Today was a good day.  Just thinking about what Jesus did for us just touches my spirit every time I think about it.  Our preacher talked about how we all die, but Jesus DECIDED to die for our sins.  He didn't have to, but he made the ultimate decision for all of us.  Thank you Jesus for your loving sacrifice.  I love you, and Happy Easter to all.

It's just Me

As you can see, these are pictures of me at work taken on my Iphone. Yes, I do work at work, but I like to keep it fun (lol).

It seems like I have been soooooo busy! I’ve finally gotten a moment to actually blog. Well, what’s going on with me? I am currently on a “revamp my spring wardrobe” kick. I am actually looking forward to some warmer weather. Notice I said warmer not hotter. With living in Arkansas, you always know those hot days are just right around the corner.

I have also started running again. I am doing a walk 2 minutes, run 2 minutes regimen right now. I think I am doing pretty good. I walked/ran almost 2 miles. Gotta love that Endomondo app! It measures your distance, tells you when you have hit the 1 mile mark, and tells you how many calories you have lost.  My goal is to one day run the 5K marathon.  I've been running with my friend/neighbor, Telischa.  We call ourselves, Team 5K aka Team Sexy aka Team Fine for the Summertime.  Y'all ain't ready!!!!!  lol

I am also anticipating the basketball playoffs. I don’t really watch a lot of basketball during the regular series, but get all into it once the playoffs start. The Miami Heat seems to be a force to be reckoned with, so the odds are in their favor this year. It’s all entertaining.

Kendall is doing great! She is so amazing and never ceases to amaze me. She is in her “try and imitate everything I see” phase. She is saying more words and loves to point. She is taking more and more steps every day. Every day is a journey in the world of Kendall. I just never know what she may do next.

Scott and I are great too. We are still enjoying being fairly new parents, but still take some time for ourselves once Kendall is sleep. We plan to have some date nights coming up this summer. I mean, Kendall can’t be with us all the time (ha!). I’m kind of excited. I’ve even started a date night outfit board on Pinterest to come up with some ideas of things to wear when we go out. Super Excited!

I am still blessed and highly favored. Enjoying life and looking forward to what’s to come.

Skinny Water

I saw this on pinterest, and decided to try it.  If you like lemon in your water, you will prob like this.  The mint is quite strong, but after you get use to it, it actually refreshing.  I think I will add this to my regular beverages to drink. I mean anything that promotes "skinny" can't be that bad. Try it out!  It can't hurt.

Skinny water: Ingredients: 3 lemons sliced 1/2 cucumber A bunch of mint leaves (per gallon of water) Preparation: 1. Slice lemons and cucumbers, wash mint leaves and place in a gallon of water. 2. Let it sit over night in the fridge so the water can soak up all the flavors. Drink up and enjoy the next day! Tip: It adds a nice flavor to your water and can give you a flat belly! The lemon and water act as a natural detox that helps flush the impurities out of your system. Enjoy!

Introducing Kendall Keys

A couple of weeks ago, we all went to Granna and Papa's house.  Kendall had to play on Granna's piano.  In the words of Alicia Keys, "This Girl is on Fire."  Check out Kendall tickling those ivory keys
