Easter 2013

Today started out with lots of rain and thunderstorms.  That didn't stop us from going to church.  Kendall looked super cute (as usual ha!)   Her ensemble consisted of a multi-colored striped sleeveless dress with a flower accent, hot pink cardigan, white gladiator sandals, and a hot pink headband with a flower embellishment.  After church, I cooked chicken wings, greens, macaroni and cheese, candied yams, hot water cornbread, and chocolate salted caramel cupcakes.  Today was a good day.  Just thinking about what Jesus did for us just touches my spirit every time I think about it.  Our preacher talked about how we all die, but Jesus DECIDED to die for our sins.  He didn't have to, but he made the ultimate decision for all of us.  Thank you Jesus for your loving sacrifice.  I love you, and Happy Easter to all.

It's just Me

As you can see, these are pictures of me at work taken on my Iphone. Yes, I do work at work, but I like to keep it fun (lol).

It seems like I have been soooooo busy! I’ve finally gotten a moment to actually blog. Well, what’s going on with me? I am currently on a “revamp my spring wardrobe” kick. I am actually looking forward to some warmer weather. Notice I said warmer not hotter. With living in Arkansas, you always know those hot days are just right around the corner.

I have also started running again. I am doing a walk 2 minutes, run 2 minutes regimen right now. I think I am doing pretty good. I walked/ran almost 2 miles. Gotta love that Endomondo app! It measures your distance, tells you when you have hit the 1 mile mark, and tells you how many calories you have lost.  My goal is to one day run the 5K marathon.  I've been running with my friend/neighbor, Telischa.  We call ourselves, Team 5K aka Team Sexy aka Team Fine for the Summertime.  Y'all ain't ready!!!!!  lol

I am also anticipating the basketball playoffs. I don’t really watch a lot of basketball during the regular series, but get all into it once the playoffs start. The Miami Heat seems to be a force to be reckoned with, so the odds are in their favor this year. It’s all entertaining.

Kendall is doing great! She is so amazing and never ceases to amaze me. She is in her “try and imitate everything I see” phase. She is saying more words and loves to point. She is taking more and more steps every day. Every day is a journey in the world of Kendall. I just never know what she may do next.

Scott and I are great too. We are still enjoying being fairly new parents, but still take some time for ourselves once Kendall is sleep. We plan to have some date nights coming up this summer. I mean, Kendall can’t be with us all the time (ha!). I’m kind of excited. I’ve even started a date night outfit board on Pinterest to come up with some ideas of things to wear when we go out. Super Excited!

I am still blessed and highly favored. Enjoying life and looking forward to what’s to come.

Skinny Water

I saw this on pinterest, and decided to try it.  If you like lemon in your water, you will prob like this.  The mint is quite strong, but after you get use to it, it actually refreshing.  I think I will add this to my regular beverages to drink. I mean anything that promotes "skinny" can't be that bad. Try it out!  It can't hurt.

Skinny water: Ingredients: 3 lemons sliced 1/2 cucumber A bunch of mint leaves (per gallon of water) Preparation: 1. Slice lemons and cucumbers, wash mint leaves and place in a gallon of water. 2. Let it sit over night in the fridge so the water can soak up all the flavors. Drink up and enjoy the next day! Tip: It adds a nice flavor to your water and can give you a flat belly! The lemon and water act as a natural detox that helps flush the impurities out of your system. Enjoy!

Introducing Kendall Keys

A couple of weeks ago, we all went to Granna and Papa's house.  Kendall had to play on Granna's piano.  In the words of Alicia Keys, "This Girl is on Fire."  Check out Kendall tickling those ivory keys

Dealing with the Wrath of the Kendallnator

In the afternoons when Kendall and I get home from work and daycare, if Kendall isn't sleep, I usually give her a little snack while she watches cartoons.  I was trying to get dinner started, but Kendall got a little fussy with me.

The first picture is Kendall in rare form better known as the Kendallnator.  Yikes, I'm scared....LOL

The second picture is my sweet baby girl while she eats her snack (fruit loops and milk).  Glad I was able to calm her down before she bit my head off....lol

Gotta love this girl!

Lemon Cookies

I got this recipe from pinterest.com  The person that posted it said that she won a contest with these.  Lemon is my favorite flavor of cake/cookie, so I thought I would try them.  The recipe says they make 2-3 dozen, but I ended up with 18 cookies.  Anywho, they are sooooo good and soft.  Definitely a must try!!!!

Lemon Crinkles

Yield: 2-3 dozen
Prep Time: 20 min
Cook Time: 10 min
Total Time: 30 min

Ingredients:

½ cups Butter, Softened
1 cup Granulated Sugar
½ teaspoons Vanilla Extract
1 whole Egg
1 teaspoon Lemon Zest
1 Tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice
¼ teaspoons Salt
¼ teaspoons Baking Powder
⅛ teaspoons Baking Soda
1-½ cup All-purpose Flour
½ cups Powdered Sugar

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease light colored baking sheets with non stick cooking spray and set aside.
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Whip in vanilla, egg, lemon zest and juice. Scrape sides and mix again. Stir in all dry ingredients slowly until just combined, excluding the powdered sugar. Scrape sides of bowl and mix again briefly. Pour powdered sugar onto a large plate. Roll a heaping teaspoon of dough into a ball and roll in powdered sugar. Place on baking sheet and repeat with remaining dough.
Bake for 9-11 minutes or until bottoms begin to barely brown and cookies look matte {not melty or shiny}. Remove from oven and cool cookies about 3 minutes before transferring to cooling rack.
*If using a non stick darker baking tray, reduce baking time by about 2 minutes.

Happy Valentine's Day

These are the gifts that Kendall gave to her classmates and to her teachers at daycare.

Uncle Brant, Aunt Keisha, and the girls gave Kendall a chocolate cupcake from Gigi's for Valentine's Day.  Let's just say that she quite enjoyed it.  LOL

Kendall's latest photo shoot

Today, I took some pictures of Kendall.  I know I am biased, but this kid is so photogenic.  This first picture is funny because Scott's papa use to call him "Scott looking out the window" because Scott was always looking out the window.  When I saw Kendall looking out the window, I ran real fast to get the camera.  I'm so glad I got this shot.  Now, we can call Kendall, "Kendall looking out the window."  Gotta love these moments!

Here are 4 up close and personal poses of Miss Kendall.  Isn't this just the cutest face you've ever seen?

Sunday's Best-Family Edition

We had a little extra time before church, so we took a few family pics.  Check out the Dismutes on their way to praise the Lord!

Leave it to pinterest.com to introduce something else to us.  Scott saw this new way to tie his tie.  It's called the Eldredge knot.  Quite snazzy if I do say so myself.

My Kendall-Wendell in their Jordan's

Kendall recently got a pair of Jordan's.  Scott has been an avid collector of Jordan shoes for years, so I must say that he was quite enthused about Kendall getting some.  I was a little iffy about Kendall having these shoes because they are more of a boys shoe.  Any who, I've gotten creative with some outfits to make it more girlie.  Kendall is wearing red tights, a blue jean skirt, white onesie, blue jean jacket, red headband, and of course her Jordan's (the 5's to be exact).  Below are some pictures of Kendall and her daddy in their Jordan's together.  Yes, they both have on the same shoes.  Gotta love my Kendall-Wendell.
